Let's be the 'Show-Me State', not the 'Me-too State'
Recently, you may have heard about Govenor Nixon's recent veto of HB 253. As your Senator, I wanted to directly let you know my position on this issue.
First, here is the short answer for you. I am strongly against HB 253 and have been opposed to this "Kansas-Like" propsal since it was first introduced in the Missouri State Senate in January.

Sen. Paul LeVota's Legislation to Increase Citizen Involvement in Election of KC School Board Signed into Law
JEFFERSON CITY, MO - Governor Nixon signed into law today legislation filed by Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence, to lower the number of members on the Kansas City School Board and move the election date of board members to match local municipal elections.

Medicaid Reform

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - After the first two days of hearings of the Senate Interium Medicaid Reform and Transformation Committee, State Senator Paul LeVota, D-Independence, expressed confidence that the committee would recommend some form of Medicaid expansion.

Senator Paul LeVota Named to Committee on Medicaid
Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence, will be instrumental in guiding state policy makers as they consider Medicaid expansion and reform. LeVota has been appointed to the Senate Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation and Reform. During the 2013 legislative session, Sen. LeVota sponsored legislation to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, but the Senate committee defeated the bill on a party line vote.
